Guruvinder aka Neetu is one of the program coordinators at the Study Centre. Following is an excerpt from an interview that he gave during his recent visit to the USA.
Peggy Whalen-Levitt: Can you tell me more about how you nurture the art of listening and looking at the Study Centre?
Neetu: When the children come to the Study Centre we sit in silence for a while. And then we spend some time in the natural world — going for a walk, drawing, sketching, writing, collecting, and so on. And then we do some activities to develop a relationship with the body. For example, learning very basic movements - yoga movements - to relax the body, to learn how to calm the mind and body together…And then, the key program of the Study Centre is engaging the children in a dialogue - to be able to sit and have an intelligent discussion with others on various issues that relate to their daily life. Some issues are how they relate with their parents, their teachers, with other children, with the world. And we look at social phenomena, for example - environmental degradation…When they come to the Study Centre, we may read some questions that they have written and we divide the class into small groups of seven or eight children…By engaging their mind by asking questions and encouraging them to express themselves in small groups, they open up and relate what is being discussed to what they are going through (in their day to day life). And quite often they come up with wonderful insights into various issues.
The Study Centre is in constant need of funds to help run its activities. Please support the Centre in its efforts to bring Krishnamurti to more people in Karnataka and elsewhere.
